Pastor Arthur Lee Gipson was born on May 26, 1944 in Millington, Tennessee. He transitioned to eternity with his Lord on February 4, 2021, in Dallas, Texas.
Affectionately regarded as “Art” and “Pops”, Arthur graduated from high school and enlisted in the United States Army. After many years of service, he retired in 1983. He later taught at Bishop College, a historically Black institution of higher learning in Dallas, Texas, which is now closed but remains highly respected. He was also a JROTC Instructor with Dallas Independent School District for over 25 years. During his tenure with DISD, he taught at multiple schools throughout DFW. In 2013, he retired from the school district.
Arthur delighted in fixing things. He also enjoyed watching westerns and listening to the blues. Most of all, he loved his family.
A servant at heart, he was Pastor of the historical Sunshine Cumberland Presbyterian Church in America for 24 years. He was also a member of Brazos River Presbytery where he served on the Historical Foundation Board, Judiciary Board, Trustee Board, and the Committee of Ministry Board.
