Pastor Mary VanZandt Obituary

Pastor Mary Frances (Greer) VanZandt was born on April 23, 1942, to Obie Greer and Mary (Lilly) Greer in Terrell (Kaufman County), Texas. Surrounded by her loving family, she transitioned to eternity on December 6, 2022, in Garland, Texas.

Mary graduated from Burnett High School in 1962. She went on to enjoy an entrepreneurial career as the owner of a janitorial service for more than 40 years and later in the home healthcare industry until her retirement. After many years of service, Mary retired in 2010.

Mary received Christ in 1961 and was a member and Minister of the Gospel with Jesus Revival Center Full Gospel Pentecostal until 1975 when she joined a newly formed ministry named Rejoicing Tabernacle COGIC where she served as Missionary. She remained with Rejoicing Tabernacle COGIC until she married Evangelist and Teacher of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, Minister Finis James VanZandt. After the two married on August 5, 1977, they formed their own ministry in 1980, Tabernacle of Deliverance Church Ministries where Mary served as First Lady/Co-Pastor until the heavenly transition of her husband in 1999. She became and remained Senior Pastor until her heavenly transition. She also served as COO of the International Council of Churches & Intercessors (ICCI) from 1999 until her transition.

Affectionately regarded as "Mae" and "Mae Frances", she delighted in poetry and sewing. She loved to laugh and would make sure she found something to make her laugh every day. She will be fondly remembered for her cheerful, faithful, unwavering, and devout nature. Her loving spirit will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Obie Greer and Mary (Lilly) Greer; husband, Pastor Finis James VanZandt; daughter, Janet Crowe; brothers, Lloyd Don Greer and Tommie Lee Greer; and sisters, Joyce Faye Greer-Simmons and Sheila Wilson.

Those left to cherish precious memories include her children: Deborah Rena Crowe-Greer (Bobby), Jonathan Jerome Crowe (Barbie), Glynis Crowe-Malone (Larn), Oliver Benjamin Crowe (Pamela), and Gregory Crowe; 13 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren (and one on the way); siblings: Obie Henry Greer (Ruthie), Joan Greer-Osborne, and Belinda Spencer-Emmit (Harry); sister-in-law, Rita Greer; aunt, Dorothy “Sister” Lilly-Bradford; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and TOD Church members.
