Rachel Baker Ford was born into this world on September 14, 1947, to Margaret Elsie Schoettle and Carl William Baker in Wayne, Michigan. She passed away on May 29, 2022, in Carrollton, Texas.
Rachel graduated from Wayne High School in Wayne, Michigan. She went on to attend Western Michigan University where she earned her bachelor's degree in Music in 1968 and Master of Arts in 1971. She relocated to New York and Massachusetts where she taught music in public schools.
Rachel married the love of her life, Charles Eugene Ford, Jr. To this union, two sons - Carl William Ford and David Thomas Ford - were loved and nurtured. The two remained united in holy matrimony until her transition.
Rachel’s imagination was captured by politics, as she felt a need for better communication with Democrats. Among her many accomplishments, Rachel invented Garland Democratic Voice, a complimentary monthly newsletter distributed on the internet. Rachel had many pleasant memories but she was particularly proud of the Garland Democratic Voice monthly editions and the Garland Democratic Voice, LLC and her titles of CEO, editor, and publisher. She knew very few people could contribute to the quality of work that she did. That was a very significant portion of her last 15 years on this earth. Unfortunately, the Garland Democratic Voice publication ceased without resumption.
Rachel was preceded in death by her parents, Margaret Elsie Schoettle and Carl William Baker; brothers, Robert Baker, and Ralph Baker. Those left to cherish precious memories include her husband, Charles William Ford, Jr.; children, Carl William Ford and David Thomas Ford; grandchildren - Luke, Abigail, Matthew, Tommy, and Carrie; brother, Allen Baker and a host of other relatives and friends
A memorial service to celebrate Rachel’s life will be announced soon.
