Renata Weaver Obituary

Our beloved Renata Elizabeth (Tullis) Weaver was born on August 20, 1938, in Kansas City Missouri to Sidney and Maudella Tullis. She was the oldest of three children. Surrounded by her loving family, she transitioned to eternity with her Lord on May 24, 2022, in Lewisville, Texas.

As a young woman in Omaha, Renata was affectionately called “Nati”, “Red” and later in life, “Foxy Roxy.” An early fashionista, she was always impeccably dressed,  and a trendsetter who turned heads whenever she entered a room. She was an active participant in life and influence on her friends and family. She graduated from Technical High School in Omaha, Nebraska in 1956. She was a cheerleader and a member of the choir where she often sang solos. She went on to attend San Antonio College in San Antonio, Texas.

On January 20, 1958, she married Lawrence Weaver Jr. and began a new role as a supportive Air Force military wife. To this union, two beautiful daughters, Kim and Karen were loved and adored. The two remained united in holy matrimony until her transition. Her military life included residences in Riverside California, Toyoko (Green Park) Japan and finally San Antonio, Texas. They lived in San Antonio Texas for more than 50 years, before relocating to Lewisville Texas.

Renata enjoyed a career in health care in her early years, often caring for newborns as well as a volunteer for the American Red Cross. She later went on to enjoy a longtime career at Tesoro Petroleum as a Production Control Supervisor. After 19 years of dedicated service, she retired in 1989.

Renata worshipped at the historic, St. John A.M.E Church in Omaha, Nebraska, for many years before relocating to San Antonio, Texas. She remained steadfast in her faith until her transition.

Among her many hobbies, Renata was an avid reader, she loved to travel, and she enjoyed gardening immensely. Her garden was her pride and joy and was the subject of admiration from many. This included her husband, who frequently gave 50 cent tours to friends, family and new acquaintances.

She will be fondly remembered for her ability to make instant friends with her enthusiastic personality, beautiful smile and her engaging laughter. A cancer survivor with an eagerness to embrace life – she never missed an opportunity to dance, be the life of the party and to be the one to talk to. A best friend, a favorite aunt and everyone’s mom - her loving and affectionate spirit will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Renata was preceded in death by her parents, Sidney Tullis and Maudella Jones; brothers, Eldridge Tullis and Jon Tullis; sister, Vicky Bonds; father-in-law, Lawrence Weaver, Sr.; and son-in-law, Charles McDonald.

Those left to cherish precious memories include her loving husband of 64 years, Lawrence Weaver, Jr.; daughters, Kim Weaver-McDonald and Karen Weaver; sister, Anita Swan (Lawrence); grandchildren - Kevin McDonald, Kellie McDonald (Darius Gregory), Chandria McDonald, and Cedric Roy; great-grandchildren - Preston McDonald, Kimberly McDonald, Kane Gregory, Desmine Hilliard and Kristalyn Bradley, and; bonus daughters, Cynthia Fitzgerald-Lacy, Carol Adams, and Joyce Payne; best friend of many years, Pat Nover; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
