Ricky Peterson

Ricky Peterson was born on February 26, 1955, to Ervay Lee Peterson, Sr. and Ocie Lee (Starling) Peterson, in Garland, Texas. He transitioned to eternity on March 1, 2023, in Dallas, Texas. 

Ricky graduated from Garland High School in 1973 and later enlisted in the United States Army in which he served from 1974 - 1975. He was honorably discharged and went on to enjoy business ownership in auto sales. In 2020, he retired.

Ricky married the love of his life, LaKeisha Johnson, on September 7, 2010. The two remained united in marriage until his transition. 

Ricky accepted Christ at a young age at Mt. Hebron Baptist Church. He remained steadfast in his faith throughout life. 

Among many hobbies, Ricky delighted in cars, football, and basketball. He will be fondly remembered for his charming, stylish, funny, and ambitious nature. His caring spirit will be missed by all who knew and loved him. 

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Robert and Emma (Jones) Jackson, and Arthur Starling; paternal grandparents, Caleb and Willie (Booty) Peterson; parents, Ervay Lee Peterson, Sr. and Ocie Lee (Starling) Peterson; brothers - Dexter T. Fluellen, Ervay Lee Peterson, Jr., Charles Davis Peterson, and Caleb Earl Peterson; nephew, Timothy Oliver; and mother-in-law, Lila Mae Johnson.

Those who are left to cherish precious memories include his wife, LaKeisha Peterson; children - Ricky Jonathan (LaKasha), RiCarra JaMil, Quiana, Troy, and Azia; grandchildren - Paris, Parker, Presley, Damien Jr., J’len, Ricky, DeMiyah, Taniya, Aidyn, and Jay’Ceon; siblings - Joyce Crowley (Clint) and Peggy Porter (Melvin); aunt, Johnnie Mae Cato; nieces - Sharon, Linda, Evelyn, Diane, Renee, Shaunette, Kampbrisha, Jaida, Adrianne, and LaShawne; nephews - Sigmund, JP III, Keith, Kevin, Charles, Jalen, Trae, and Adryan; many great-nieces and nephews; special "brother" cousins - Corey Reedy, Ronnie Banks, Lynn Carr, and Gary Carr; and a host of other relatives and friends.
