Robert Allen Johnson was born on October 1, 1950, to Eleanor Johnson in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He transitioned on June 27, 2023.

Affectionately known as "Al", he was raised by his mother and stepfather, Herbert Allen.

Al was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather; sister, Lorraine; and brother, Herbert. He leaves behind his wife, Frances Johnson; daughter, Robin Allen-Hall; sons, Robert Allen, Jr. and Jamal Allen; nine grandchildren; sisters - Loretta Allen, Alma Allen, and Debbie Allen-Hackley; brother, Jose Allen; favorite aunt, Erma Vance; uncle, Jimmy Johnson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
