Ronald Rose Obituary

Ronald Eugene Rose was born on August 8, 1950, in Bronx, New York. He transitioned to eternity on May 16, 2021, in McKinney, Texas.

Affectionately regarded as “Ronnie,” “Ron Rose", and “Ron,” Ronald attended Fenger High School in Chicago, Illinois. He later graduated from Rich Central High School in Olympia Fields, Chicago.  Ronald enjoyed a longtime career with Gem Business Forms in Chicago, Illinois, and he also sold Kirby vacuum cleaners for five years.

Among many hobbies, Ronald loved playing drums with The Jackson Raiders Drum, Bugle Corp. of Chicago, Illinois, Harlem Knights Drum, and Bugle Corps New York. He enjoyed singing with the Dooney’s and Dirt Balls in the 1960s. He also delighted in mid-eastern history, world events, and telling jokes.

Ronald was baptized at an early age at Refuge Temple in Harlem, New York under the leadership of Bishop W. L. Bonner. He later united with Apostolic Church of God in Chicago, Illinois under the leadership of Bishop Authur M. Brazier. He served under Bishop Dr. Byron Brazier in later years where he sang with the Apostolic Brotherhood Chorale for many years.

Ronald married his soulmate, Cheryl Swansey, on January 12, 1996. The two remained united in holy matrimony until his transition.

Ronald will be fondly remembered for his God-fearing, ambitious, humorous, and loving nature. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his father, Warren McNichols, and nephew, Derrick Richardson. Those left to cherish precious memories include his wife, Cheryl Rose; sons, Ronald S. Rose (Sharmarra) and Derrick Jackson (Markeisha); daughters - Diamond Rose (Devanta), Renee Corder, Janet Johnson, Brandi Davenport, and Stephani Miller; grandchildren - Kaylen Rose, Stephen Rose, Isaiah Jackson, Melani Gatlin, and Nova Rose; mother, Evangelist Jessie Allen; sister, Margaret Allen-Adeyemo (Adewale); and a host of other grandchildren, beloved family, and friends.
