Rosemary Therese Schneider Beckman of Dallas, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, January 20th, at the age of 89. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Charles Beckman, and her daughter, Amy Marie Beckman.
Rosemary was born the first of fraternal twins on July 11, 1931, in Willoughby, Ohio. A lover of animals, her childhood was filled with pets, Donald Duck, Jimmy Crow, dog Duke and many rabbits. She was educated at The Andrews School. After graduation, she accepted a position at Sherwin-Williams in downtown Cleveland, riding a streetcar to work each day.
She would meet and marry US Navy Lieutenant JG John Charles Beckman of Cleveland, Ohio in 1955. The two eventually settled in Dallas where they raised four children.
She spent her adult life in pursuit of spiritual growth, continued education through reading, and physical health through yoga and a clean though sometimes bizarre diet, never living down her infamous “peanut butter carrot loaf”.
Rose forged lifelong relationships throughout her many years at Horizon Group of Farmers Branch, where she learned to lead by example and became a compass for others through many of life’s storms.
She is survived by her son, John and wife Shelley Beckman of Garland; son, Tom and wife Olena Beckman of Wylie; and daughter, Susan and husband Dan Reed of Garland; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the local SPCA of your choice.
