Royal Jean (Anderson) Myers was born November 14, 1946, to Leroy and Charleste Anderson in Dallas, Texas. Royal Jean graduated from Lincoln High school, Dallas, Texas, in 1965, and later attended Huston-Tillson College, now known as Huston-Tillson University. In 1968, she married Willie Jackson, Jr. To this union, her one and only daughter was born, Karen Elaine Jackson. Later in life, she met and married David Myers.
Royal Jean accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at the age of 12 under the leadership of Pastor James Terrell at Willow Grove Baptist Church. In November of 1972, she united with First Baptist Church of Hamilton Park under the pastoral care of Pastor Jessie Lee Foster. She was an active member of Usher Ministry #1, and she was one of the original sponsors when Usher Ministry #2 was organized. She was also a member of the Women’s Ministry, and she participated in feeding the homeless.
Royal worked for Texas Instruments for many years. After retirement, she enjoyed traveling on her “Girlfriend Trips” which included 12 of her high school and college friends. She was extremely proud when she hosted a Hawaiian Luau in her home in 2012. Her Girlfriends affectionately gave her the name "Tina" after their famous karaoke nights in Houston during one of their trips. She also enjoyed her annual trips with two of her other close friends, traveling and visiting historical sites throughout most of the 50 states.
Royal was an accomplished cook and enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and friends. She especially enjoyed cooking meals for her one and only grandson, Dylan, who was the brightest star in her life. Royal Jean enjoyed listening to gospel music, and a little-known fact was she also enjoyed listening to country and western music.
Royal was a woman of great strength and extreme courage. Everyone around her witnessed her strength and tenacity. She was a tell-it-like-it-is person, but one that was respected. She will be truly missed and her words will have a lasting impact.
Royal answered to many names: Mama, Jean, Royal, RoyJean, and RJ. She was most proud of being called G-Mommy by her grandson.
