Sandra Gail (Mitchell) Dixon

Sandra Gail Dixon was born on June 3, 1954, in Paris, Texas. On August 19, 2026, Gail peacefully transitioned from this earthly life in Dallas, Texas, into eternity with her Lord and Savior.

A proud graduate of Paris High School, Class of 1972, Gail continued her education at Paris Junior College (PJC) and University of North Texas (UNT) formally North Texas State University , where her dedication to learning and hard work led her to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration in 1977.

Gail enjoyed an extraordinary 48-year career with Southwestern Bell/AT&T, where she dedicated herself to her profession and took great pride in her work. During her distinguished career, she served in several engineering and leadership roles, including 2nd Line Engineer and Associate Director of Engineering and Planning, Principal Network Process & Quality. Gail loved her work and was so dedicated to her career that she had planned to retire on August 31, 2026. Her commitment, knowledge, and years of service were a testament to her strong work ethic and determination.

A Woman of Faith

Gail was a woman of strong faith who deeply loved the Lord and the church. Her faith journey began early in life. As a young adult, she attended Hospitality COGIC in Paris Texas, and while living in Greenville, Texas, she attended Mt. Elem Baptist Church.

For 22 years, Gail was a devoted member of All Nations Fellowship in Garland, where she worshiped, fellowshipped, and served as an usher.

During a period of illness, Gail also worshiped with Gospel Tabernacle in Mesquite, which was closer to her home. She remained committed to prayer and fellowship and was a faithful participant in the Tuesday Family Prayer Call. Her love for God and devotion to prayer were an important part of her life and a reflection of the faith she carried with her.

A Loving Mother and Grandmother

Above all, Gail cherished being a mother. Her sons, Courtney and Quaaron, were her life and a source of immeasurable love and pride. She loved them deeply and was always there to encourage, support, and celebrate them. The bond she shared with her sons was precious to her, and she treasured the memories they made together. Her love for them was unconditional and unwavering, and her sons will forever carry the love of their mother in their hearts.

Gail was a devoted grandmother to Devon, Isaiah, and Kailani. Devon called her “Grandma,” while Isaiah and Kailani called her “GG.” She cherished each of her grandchildren and took great joy in watching them grow. To them, she was a source of unconditional love, laughter, wisdom, and cherished memories. The special bond she shared with each of them will remain in their hearts forever.

Her Joyful Spirit

Gail was known for her captivating gift of gab. She could talk with just about anyone and had a way of making people feel welcomed and connected. She was also well known for sending cards and making the effort to stay in touch with the people she loved. Whether through a thoughtful card, a phone call, or simply checking in, Gail made sure people knew they mattered. Gail valued friendship deeply and made a lasting impression on the people she encountered

To her nieces and nephews, Gail was known as the “Fun Aunt.” She was always ready to have a good time, make people laugh, and create lasting memories. She possessed a joyful spirit and had a way of bringing light and laughter wherever she went. Her nieces and nephews will forever the special love , laughter, and fun she brought into their lives.

Gail loved games and arcades, and she especially enjoyed Skee-Ball. She also had a wonderful talent for cooking and was known for crafting fantastic meals for her family and friends. Her culinary journey began as a member of the Les Belles de Parisienne Club in Paris, Texas, where she developed a love and skill for preparing food that she carried throughout her life. Sharing a good meal was another way Gail expressed her love for those around her.

Gail was an avid sports fan who enjoyed football, basketball, and baseball. She proudly supported both the Dallas Cowboys and the Kansas City Chiefs, and she could always be counted on to follow her favorite teams and cheer them on. She also enjoyed playing games with family and friends, especially tic-tac-toe, where her playful spirit and competitive side could shine. Whether she was watching a football game, enjoying basketball or baseball, playing a game of tic-tac-toe, or simply sharing good conversation, Gail knew how to appreciate the things she loved. Her enthusiasm for sports, games, and spending time with others created many cherished moments and lasting memories for those who knew and loved her.

Preceded in Death

Gail was preceded in death by her father, Jack Mitchell; her mother, Roberta Mitchell Hawley; her sisters, Velora Carolyn Yates, Paulette Hildreth, and Betty Mitchell; and her brothers, Rufus Mitchell, Jack Mitchell, Jr., Byron Mitchell, and Elder Michael Mitchell.

Those Left to Cherish Lasting Memories

Those left to cherish lasting memories and continue her legacy of love include her sons, Courtney Dixon and Quaaron Dixon and his wife Brandy Dixon; her grandchildren, Devon, Isaiah, and Kailani; her sister, Margaret Duffie; her brother, Troy Mitchell; her sister-in-law, Sherry Mitchell, who lovingly walked beside Gail throughout her medical journey, offering unwavering support, care, and strength; her nieces and nephews; her dear friend and running partner, Hope Jordan, whose caring, generous, and supportive friendship was a treasured part of Gail’s life; her cherished lifelong friends, Nona Jones,  Deb Harrison Scott,  Robin Smith, and Ruth Swancy; and a host of beloved family members and friends..

Though Gail has transitioned from this earthly life, we find comfort in knowing that she is now resting in the presence of her Lord and Savior. Her faith, love, laughter, kindness, dedication, captivating gift of gab, and unforgettable spirit will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know and love her. She leaves behind not only memories, but a legacy of faith, family, friendship, hard work, laughter, generosity, and love. The lives she touched and the relationships she nurtured will continue to tell the story of a remarkable woman whose presence will be deeply missed. Well done, good and faithful servant.
