Sherry Jean Buckley-Brown

On July 22, 1962, in Racine, Wisconsin, Sherry Jean Buckley-Brown began a remarkable journey defined by faith, perseverance, leadership, and an unwavering commitment to serving others. Throughout her life, she inspired everyone she encountered through her genuine spirit, resilient character, and compassionate heart.

Sherry graduated from Enterprise High School in 1980, where she distinguished herself both academically and socially. She proudly served as an Enterprise High School Flag Girl and was crowned both Ms. Enterprise High School and Homecoming Queen, honors that reflected her grace, confidence, and vibrant personality. She later pursued higher education with determination, earning a Bachelor of Science degree from Amberton University and a Master of Business Administration from Columbia Southern University. Dedicated to personal and professional excellence, she also became a Certified Project Management Professional (PMP), a Certified Flourishing Life Coach, and a Licensed Realtor.

Her distinguished career spanned several respected organizations, including Health Care Service Corporation, where she faithfully served for 16 years, as well as Bank of America, IBM (International Business Machines), Snapple, and Xerox. Throughout her professional journey, Sherry was recognized as a capable leader whose integrity, wisdom, and dedication earned the respect of colleagues and clients alike.

Beyond her career, Sherry was deeply committed to uplifting her community. She proudly served as a member of the Collin County Black Chamber of Commerce and volunteered as a Financial Empowerment Facilitator for the YWCA of Metropolitan Dallas, empowering individuals and families with financial knowledge and hope for a brighter future.

A woman of deep Christian faith, Sherry worshipped at North Dallas Community Bible Church, where her faith guided her life's purpose and strengthened her commitment to serving God and others with love and humility.

On March 11, 2017, Sherry married the love of her life, Darrell Brown. Together they built a marriage rooted in love, faith, friendship, and mutual devotion. Their relationship was a beautiful testimony to God's grace and enduring companionship.

Among Sherry's many accomplishments was the publication of her inspiring book, Who Will Take Care of Me Now, a memoir that tells the true story of how Sherry dealt with the loss of her mother to domestic violence when she was just 12 years old. The book reflects her desire to encourage, educate, and empower others. She also proudly pursued a lifelong dream by auditioning for the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, demonstrating the confidence and fearless determination that defined her life.

Outside of her professional accomplishments, Sherry embraced life with enthusiasm and joy. She found peace in gardening, delighted in traveling to new places, expressed love through cooking, appreciated the soothing sounds of contemporary jazz, and pursued holistic health as part of her commitment to living a balanced and purposeful life.

Those who knew Sherry describe her as a resilient, influential, inspiring, genuine, and devoted leader. Her warmth, wisdom, generosity, and unwavering encouragement left a lasting impression on everyone blessed to know her.

Sherry was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Paul Dumas and Mittie Beatrice Dumas; her paternal grandparents, Dennis Buckley Sr. and Allie Buckley; her parents, Dennis Buckley Jr. and Merlee Buckley; her sister, Cathy Buckley; her brothers, Earnest Buckley and Kelvin Buckley; and her beloved nephew, Terrence Buckley.

Those who will forever cherish Sherry's love, kindness, and the precious memories she leaves behind include her husband, Darrell Brown; her loving son, Marqus Price (Angie); her treasured grandchildren, Kai Price and Zoi Price; her brother, Jerry Buckley; her beloved aunt, Eva Dumas Green; her father-in-law, Lawler Brown; her brother-in-law, David Brown (Anisa); her nieces - LaVetta Buckley Hunter, Arielle Brown, and Alesha Brown; her nephews - Jerrad Buckley, Derrick James, and Trenton Jones; her cousins - Morris Green (Maria), Charlotta Roach (Maurice), and Joe Dumas (Vertima); a host of beloved relatives and cherished friends; and an extraordinary circle of faithful friends whose love and companionship brought immeasurable joy throughout her life: Debra Dirden Franklin, Tammy Dickerson, Sara Baker, Carlotta Baker, Darnelle Parker, Beverly Cherry, LaShonda Anderson-Williams, Tiffany Hicks, Lydia Harris, Cheryl Baker, and Amanda Buckley.

Sherry Jean Buckley-Brown lived with purpose, loved without reservation, and served with humility. Her legacy is not measured solely by her accomplishments but by the countless lives she touched through her faith, generosity, wisdom, and unconditional love. Though she will be deeply missed, her beautiful spirit, enduring example, and unwavering faith will continue to inspire all who were privileged to know her.
