Stephanie Morgan Obituary

Stephanie Lynn Morgan was born on May 17, 1965, to Travis Wallace Morgan and Bernice Louise (Hill) Morgan in Dallas, Texas. The second of four children born to this union, she transitioned to eternity with her Lord on May 28, 2023, in Dallas, Texas.

Stephanie graduated from Richardson High School in 1983. In 1987, Stephanie continued her pursuit of higher education at the University of North Texas where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. She later earned a Master of Business Administration from Amberton University in 2001.

Stephanie was christened at Hamilton Park United Methodist Church in Dallas, Texas, by the Revered Dr. Zan Wesley Holmes, Jr. and later baptized at Greenville Avenue Church of Christ. She later united with the Friendship-West Baptist Church family in Dallas, Texas, under the leadership of Dr. Fredrick D. Haynes III. She remained a faithful member of Friendship-West until her health declined. During her time at Friendship-West, she served on the New Members Committee and sang in the Women’s Choir. Her mentor and spiritual advisor was Pastor James Fitzgerald who provided Christian counseling and guidance for Stephanie along her spiritual journey.

Stephanie’s professional career spans over thirty years as an Insurance Claims Adjuster and Benefits Administrator for various companies, including Geico, Cigna Group, Parkland, Sedgwick, and York Risk Services. Though Stephanie had a successful professional career, her greatest affinity was her beloved son, Chad Brion Morgan. He followed in his mother’s footsteps in pursuing higher learning. In 2009, Chad attained a Bachelor of Science degree in Business at Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia. In 2017, he conferred his degree at the University of North Texas in Denton. As a youth, Chad participated in the Leaders of Tomorrow program sponsored by the National Black MBA Association, Dallas Chapter.

Affectionately known as “Fluffy” by family and friends, Stephanie was a proud member of the Dallas Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, since 2014. Her commitment to her sorority sisters and mankind was truly remarkable. She was an avid reader and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Travis Wallace Morgan; maternal grandparents, Theodore and Ola Hill; paternal grandparents, Wallace and Essia Vell Morgan; uncle, James Hill; and aunts - Bettye Ann Morgan, Laura Willis, and Theola Franklin.

Those left to cherish lasting, precious memories include her son, Chad Morgan; mother, Bernice Morgan; siblings - Tony Morgan, Mark Morgan, and Brett Morgan; nieces - Kristian, Trinitee, Katlyn, and MacKenzie; nephews, Demetrius and Jordan; uncle, Paul Morgan (Patricia); aunts - Reva Bryant (Willie), Vera Anthony, Zoe Terry (Ron), and Rebecca Loving; and a host of cousins, other relatives, and friends that loved her dearly and will miss her heart-warming smile.

Life is but a Stopping Place

Life is but a stopping place,
A pause in what’s to be,
A resting place along the road,
to sweet eternity.
We all have different journeys,
Different paths along the way,
We all were meant to learn some things,
but never meant to stay…
Our destination is a place,
Far greater than we know.
For some,  the journey’s quicker,
For some the journey’s slow.
And when the journey finally ends,
We’ll claim a great reward,
And find an everlasting peace,
Together with the Lord.
