Sue (Hays) Moore was born on May 3, 1937, to James Ray and Vera Hays, in Christine, Texas. She passed away on February 6, 2023, in Dallas, Texas.
Sue graduated from Jourdanton High School in 1954. She went on to attend Texas Woman’s University. She enjoyed a lifetime of work as children’s minister, administrative assistant, realtor, and finally as vehicle inspection station inspector at the Texas Department of Public Safety until her retirement in 2002. Her most satisfying role was homemaker, as she was truly an awesome mother to her children and took great delight in caring for her family. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren also loved spending time with their “Mama Sue.”
Sue married Jack Newton Moore, on October 2, 1982. The two enjoyed life together until his passing in 2016.
Sue was active at Waterbrook Bible Fellowship in Wylie, Texas, where she passionately supported missions. From early in her life, her faith in God served as her foundation and guiding light.
Among many hobbies, Sue enjoyed sewing, gardening, shopping, and creating beautiful spaces. She will be fondly remembered for her fierce, faithful, fashionable, fun, and fastidious nature. Her kind and generous spirit will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Sue was preceded in death by her parents, James Ray and Vera Gower Hays; husband, Jack Newton Moore; daughter, Mary Charles Allen; sisters, Harlene Borgfeld and Martha Lou Hays; and brother, Ray "Bob" Hays.
Those left to cherish memories include her children - Dawn Allen-Herron (Norm), Leslie Jones (Wally), and Charlie Allen (Paula); sister, Dot Schultz; grandchildren - Sam Allen (Brooke), Katie Reid (Doug) and Drew Allen (Carly); great-grandchildren, Ezra, Asher, and Judah Allen; nieces - Jacque Wallis and Julie Poth; nephews - Rick Schultz, Charles Brite, and Lee Brite; sister-in-law, Joan MacLeod; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Donations in Sue’s memory may also be made to the Dallas Arboretum or the Waterbrook Bible Fellowship missions fund.
