Susie Lakes was born on April 22, 1941, to Louis Ross, Sr. & Suzanna West Ross in Leon County, Texas. She transitioned to eternity with her Lord on August 24, 2020, in Carrollton, Texas.
Susie received her formal education in Italy, Texas, and she later moved to Dallas for a better opportunity. She worked as a Technician with Texas Instruments until she retired.
Susie married Loy Lakes on August 12, 1984. To this union, no children were born. However, she gained two step-children that she loved as her own.
Susie professed her faith in Christ at an early age. Upon moving to Dallas, she joined True Purpose Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Alfonzo Wilbert. Later, she united with First Baptist Church of Hamilton Park under the leadership of Dr. J. Lee Foster. After she retired, she joined Sweet Home Missionary Baptist Church in Garland, Texas, where she remained a faithful member until her health declined.
Susie was preceded in death by her parents; husband; six brothers; five sisters; and step-son, Richard Todd. Those left to cherish precious memories include her sisters, Vertie Mae Green and Lois Mae McCoy (James); brother, Larry Ross (Mary); step-daughter, Barbara Cooper (Jerry); and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends she endeared as her family.
