Teresa Joyce Hopkins was born on October 12, 1959, in Garland, Texas. She transitioned to eternity on February 6, 2021, in Walla Walla, Washington.
Teresa attended Garland High School and graduated with the Class of 1978. She enjoyed a longtime career as a certified electrician and school bus driver.
Affectionately regarded as "Ms. T", Teresa was baptized at age 8 at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Garland, Texas, where her paternal grandparents were charter members. Teresa enjoyed singing and was most honored to sing for her Lord in the church choir. She was a featured singer at Shiloh MBC. Teresa continued to sing for her Lord even after relocation to Washington. She was a requested singer at various churches in the Seattle and Tacoma, Washington area for many years, namely Boulevard Park Church in Seattle.
Teresa had a humorous side that brought great delight to others. She enjoyed pulling pranks. She also loved animals, especially dogs, and she enjoyed making others laugh.
Teresa will be fondly remembered as a Christian at heart. She will be fondly remembered for her jovial, playful, and hilarious nature. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her father, Tommy M. Hopkins, Sr.; brothers, Joseph Charles "Chuck" Hopkins and Tommy M. Hopkins, Jr.; sister, Dora "Dody" Pearl Hopkins; maternal grandparents, Isaac and Naomi Scruggs; and paternal grandparents, Tom and Dora Hopkins. Those left to cherish precious memories include her mother, Lillie P. Scruggs Hopkins; son, Anthony Hopkins of Tacoma, Washington; grandchildren: Anthony "AJ" Hopkins, Jr., Kyra Hopkins, Trenton Hopkins - all of Tacoma, Washington; sisters, Cynthia LeBlanc and Gayle Hopkins; uncles, S.W. Scruggs and Joseph Scruggs (Etta); the Trahan family and Mades family of Washington; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
