Theresa Wilhelmina (Kohler) Lovern was born in Fort Smith, Arkansas, on May 19, 1932 to Joseph Charles Kohler and Annie Marie (Irber) Kohler.
Theresa was volunteering for the USO at Fort Chaffee, Arkansas when she met the love of her life, Fred Douglas Lovern. Theresa and Fred married on May 18, 1957, at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Fort Smith. Theresa attended all twelve years of Catholic school at St. Anne's, graduating with the honor of “most agreeable” her senior year.
When her husband was transferred for work shortly after marriage, the young couple moved to Dallas, Texas to begin their new life and to raise their family.
Theresa raised her five children, guided by her strong Catholic faith, to be both independent and self-sufficient, teaching each of them to cook, clean, and sew among other things. She created a strong faith-based bond within her children and through their St. Augustine Catholic Church and School family. Theresa would often be seen attending church in one of her many hats she was known to wear, or helping make dolls for the annual church carnival, or filling in as a basketball coach and den mother for one of her children.
Theresa was fun-loving and enjoyed playing BINGO, various games with her children and friends. Family holidays were her favorite time of the year, as she loved to spend time with her children, grandchildren, family, and friends. Blessed by God’s grace, under the care of her daughter, Theresa left this world to be with the Lord on January 29, 2025, at the age of 92. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Douglas Lovern; her parents, Joseph Charles Kohler and Annie Marie Irber; and her siblings - Martha Gooch (Bernie), Marguerite Violette (David), Charles Kohler (Peggy), Frederick Kohler (Evelyn), Marilyn English (Joe), and Jack Kohler (Lee).
Those left to cherish lasting memories include her children - Cheryl Lovern, Douglas C. Lovern (Denice), Bonner F. Lovern, Theresa Ann Lovern, and Ronald Lovern (Nancy); her grandchildren - Amy Davis (Adam), Douglas E. Lovern (Katie), Bonner F. Lovern, Raquel Harris (Andrew), Kristyn Ellis (Neko), Amanda Vespa (Anthony), Coronado Lovern (Brittany), DeLaney Simon (Jiovanny), Zachary Lovern, Nicholas Lovern, Lance Lovern, Andrew Lovern, Mary, Michael, Gabriel, Nathan Kergosien, Robert (Haley), Bryan (Lyndsay), and Elizabeth Speer (Eddie); her great-grandchildren - Kayla, Riley, Kendall, Ryker, Katelyn, Abby, Eli, Emma, Merideth, Marlie, Hunter, Daisy, Colton, Lukas, Aidan, Bo, Dean, Sam, Shianne, Aleigha, Colt, Jaxon, and Emmersyn; her great-great-grandchild, Gideon; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
