Tonya Renita Rausaw was born on January 20, 1971, to the late Oneil and Mildred Leatrice (Barber) Rausaw. On May 29, 2024, she transitioned to eternity with her Lord.
Tonya accepted Christ as her personal Savior at an early age and united with Macedonia Baptist Church. She was extremely faithful and loved to attend her church with great expectation and anticipation. She was not shy in witnessing and praising the name of Jesus! You could always find her seated in the middle section of the church on the second pew. This was her spot! With her mother and brothers, Tonya later became a member of New. Mt. Zion Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. Tommy L. Brown in Dallas, Texas.
She attended public schools in Nacogdoches and graduated from Nacogdoches High School in 1993.
Tonya was a sincere lover of people. She never met strangers and welcomed all into her life with the biggest heart and hug known to mankind. She LOVED her birthday and would sit diligently by the phone waiting to hear “Happy Birthday” from the numerous family and friends who called her and from those who went to visit her, making her special day complete. To know Tonya was to love and simply adore her. She had such an infectious and unforgettable personality, always smiling, laughing, and happy. This beautiful soul will sincerely be missed by her family and friends.
Those left to cherish precious memories include her two brothers, Donald Wayne Rausaw (Sheila) of Dallas, Texas and Kelvin Oneil Rausaw (Lisa) of Wylie, Texas; two nephews, Kelvin Jr. "KJ" and Kortlin; two nieces, Kendra and Rachel; special friends, Faye Curl and Betty Jacobs; and a host of cousins and friends who will forever remember her loving spirit.
