William Price Obituary

William Earl Price was born January 3, 1962, to Carstee Price and Ruthie Echols Price in Laurel, Mississippi. He grew up in Bassfield, Mississippi, and was a proud high school graduate of Bassfield High School, Class of 1980. He distinguished himself as a talented athlete with a deep passion for football as a defensive lineman.

William received a football scholarship to Pearl River Junior College (Poplarville, MS), receiving his associate degree. Continuing both his academic and athletic pursuits, William received a football scholarship to Delta State University, where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration in 1984. Following graduation, William relocated to Texas, stepping into a new chapter that would become a life richly rooted in family, faith, and purpose.

On July 28, 1990, William united in marriage with his best friend and lifelong companion, Daphne Lorraine Levels, building a beautiful life grounded in love and commitment to God. From this union came two cherished daughters, Lora and Jada, who were the pride and joy of his life.

William’s faith was the cornerstone of his existence. He accepted the Lord as his personal savior at an early age at Progress Missionary Baptist Church. As an adult, he served faithfully as a deacon at the Potter’s House before joining Mt. Hebron Missionary Baptist Church. There, he devoted himself to serving as one of the teachers for the men’s Sunday School class. William had a passion for God’s word, and his gift for teaching left a lasting impact on all he taught. His dedication to ministry reached far beyond the church walls, as he served in the prison ministry and contributed his service on the nominating committee.

Alongside his spiritual commitments, William was a dedicated entrepreneur who owned William Price Insurance Agency for 30 years. Because of his zeal to grow and excel, William earned his MBA in 2016 at Amberton University. He also worked as a tax preparer with H&R Block for 27 years, providing trusted guidance and support to countless individuals and families.

William was preceded in death by his father, Carstee Price; his mother, Ruthie Echols Price; his brother, John Price; and his sisters, Willie Ruth Magee and Karlis Dianne Williams.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving family; his wife, Daphne Price; his daughters, Lora Price and Jada Price; his brother, Coleman Price (Lurine); his sister, Pearl Shorts (Ronald); his father-in-law and mother-in-law; four brothers-in-law; a sister-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who will forever hold his memory close to their hearts.
